Eye bags generally occur with age. Although it does not cause pain, but the eye bag can interfere with appearance because it makes the face look tired and older.

Eye bags occur due to fluid buildup caused by weakening of the tissue around the eyes, including the eyelid support muscles.

Understanding the Causes of Eye Bags

One of the most common causes of eye bags is sleep deprivation. This is because sleep deprivation tends to cause blood vessels under the thin skin to dilate the eyes and create dark colors. These dilated blood vessels can cause a buildup of fluid around the eyes, thus forming eye bags.

In addition to lack of sleep, things that can also be the cause of eye bags are as follows:
  • Allergy. At allergic rhinitis, inflammation occurs in the nose due to allergic reactions. Symptoms that arise include sneezing and watery eyes, can be accompanied by the appearance of eye bags and dark circles under the eyes.
  • Aging. Aging can cause the appearance of the eye bag because as we get older, the muscle and tissue structure around the eyes weakens. The skin will also begin to loosen and fluid will begin to gather at the bottom of the eye. In addition, the fat around the eyes will also move to the area around the bottom of the eye so that it looks swollen or forms eye bags.
  • A bad diet. Lack of fluids and low protein intake can not only affect health, but can also affect the area under your eyes.
  • Stress. Stress can cause skin and body tissues to become weak, this can also occur in the skin tissue around the eyes. When the skin tissue around the eyes weakens, the eye bags can form due to fluid buildup.
Eye bags and dark circles on the eyes can also be caused by smoking, consuming too much caffeine and alcohol,
