The Hammerton Barbados team recognised the need to improve their organic visibility in order to expand their reach and grow their business, but they did not feel they had the expertise to grow this area of the business internally. They had previously approached outreach specialists who had not provided a high quality of work and were therefore looking for SEO Travel experts to help them grow their backlink profile through high-quality PR and relevant targeted outreach.
Additionally, there were some significant site architecture and technical SEO issues that needed to be addressed in order to ensure the site had a solid foundation for organic growth.
For the SEO strategy, we started with a review of the technical SEO health of the site, as well as recommendations on how to improve the site architecture and build out new pages to target relevant phrases that did not have target pages.
We then started to optimise key pages on the site to ensure the content and on-page elements were all providing the necessary information, while also looking to improve the outreach to these pages.
We reviewed the blog, making recommendations on posts that were providing little value and posts that could be improved to increase readership. The next step is to look at creating new supporting content that is highly relevant to the core business offering.
For PR, we adopted a strategy with a blend of press releases and reactive PR. A key tactic for securing high-quality placements has been focusing and adapting to the news agenda, including using a topical case study to ‘news jack’ the workation trend. This strategy earned us placements in publications including Metro and The Mirror.
We also used their expertise in Barbados to our advantage and used our Reactive PR service to secure coverage in the likes of Woman & Home by recommending the island as a ‘winter destination’.
All this is made possible by the improvements done throughout our search engine optimisation strategy.
